Get a Copy of Your Auto Insurance ID Card
Your auto insurance ID card is proof that you carry the minimum required insurance to legally operate your vehicle in Tennessee. You are required to have proof of insurance with you whenever you are driving, and you will need to provide it at traffic stops, accidents, and vehicle registrations.
How to Get Your ID Card
Option 1 — Download from Your Carrier Portal
The fastest way to get your auto insurance ID card is to log in to your carrier’s online account or mobile app. Most carriers allow you to view, download, and print your ID card immediately — or display it on your phone at a traffic stop.
Option 2 — Request Through Our Office
If you do not have online access to your carrier account, fill out the form below or call us at (423) 636-3743 and we will arrange to get your ID card to you. We can typically have a card emailed or mailed within one business day.
Option 3 — Erie Insurance Mobile App
Erie Insurance policyholders can download the ERIE mobile app to access their ID card, manage their policy, and file claims from their smartphone. Search for “Erie Insurance” in the App Store or Google Play.
Digital Proof of Insurance in Tennessee
Tennessee law accepts electronic proof of insurance displayed on a mobile device, so you do not need a physical card as long as you can show your carrier’s app or a digital copy at the time of a stop or accident. However, having a physical backup card in your glove compartment is always a good idea.
ID cards reflect coverage as of the card’s effective date. No coverage changes are effective until confirmed in writing by your carrier. Contact our office if you believe your coverage has changed and your ID card does not reflect the update.
